Gradients
The gradient of a slope is a measure of its steepness: in other words, it is the rate of change of the slope. By convention, the gradient is given in terms of units of distance up per unit of distance along, or rise divided by run. in terms of Cartesian coordinates, this is y divided by x (y/x). The gradient of the line described by the equation y=x will be 1. because any value of x, the value of y is same.
