Homework (Algebra, Ratio, Volume and Angles)


1) Jane distributed candies to her friends at her birthday party. She gave some candies equally to 14 friends and had 4 candies left. If each friend received v candies, how many candies did Jane have at first?

2) Tommy saved $s. He spent $80 buying a birthday gift for his younger sister. Some time later, Tommy saved another $53. How much did Tommy have in the end?

3)Raj and Dave did a part-time job during the vacation to earn their own allowance. Raj earned $80 less than Dave. If Raj earned $p, how much did they earn altogether?

4) Keddy, Cheko and Miko have saved some allowance to buy a gift for their father. The ratio of Keddy's to Cheko's savings is 1 : 2. The ratio of Cheko's to Miko's savings is 11 : 8. Keddy has saved $22. How much has Miko saved?

5)  The ratio of Gina's savings to Andy's savings is 4 : 7. If Gina spends

 of her money, she will have $264 less than Andy. How much is Andy's savings?
6)Vincent sold his pottery to earn allowance during school vacation. The number of $2, $5 and $10-notes she earned were in ratio of 3 : 6 : 5. The notes were worth $1548 altogether. How many $2-notes were there?

7) Every cube has 6 faces. 11 similar cubes have a total surface area of 4224 cm². Find the total volume of these 11 cubes.

8) A rectangular container is 25 cm long and 20 cm wide. The height of the water level in the container is 5 cm at first. Then Mr Ngiam pours 3 litres of water into the container. What is the height of the water level in the container now?

9) BCD is a square. EDC is an isosceles triangle. ∠ACE = 13°. Find ∠ADE.

10)  In the figure not drawn to scale, ABCD is a trapezium and AB // DC. ∠CBF = 70°, ∠ADC = 108°. AB = AE. Find ∠BCD.
